The City of Grand Rapids took another key step this week in advancing improvements at the American Legion Memorial Park. The property, which was given to the city by the local American Legion in 1966 for recreational, educational, or other public purposes, is home to the IRA Civic Center, Legion Field, Nobel Hall Field, Grand Rapids High School, cross country ski and mountain bike trails, and many other amenities.

The Grand Rapids City Council approved a resolution Monday for a proposal to impose a one percent local sales and use tax to fund Project Grand Rapids, a plan to develop a Kids Campus at IRA Civic Center and improve Legion Field.

This morning we took a tour of northern MN in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week. Tourism is a $15 billion dollar industry in MN and generates more than 265,000 jobs – making up for 11% of private sector employment. Today we visited with the fine folks that work in the tourism industry in northern MN.
