Grand Rapids Fishing Report 9-28-16

Fall Crappie Tom NeustromThis week’s Grand Rapids Fishing Report by Tom Neustrom, MN Fishing Connections.

The cooler weather has definitely kick started the fall walleye bite and many area lakes are starting to produce. Lake Winnie has been giving up limits of nice eating walleyes in the shallows with a jig and minnow being the best choice for success. Big Splithand has also been doing well along the weedlines. Bowstring Lake continues to provide good action for a variety of species. Spider Lake has been producing nice crappies and 5-8 pound northern pike.  Crappies on area lakes have moved to 20-30 feet depending on the lake. Use you electronics to find schools and vertically fish them with small jigs or jigging raps. Fall is a special time of the year and wildlife become very active and there is so much to do without a lot of time. Get out and enjoy this special time of the year.
