Another windy week that brought about good fishing for walleyes on area lakes. As predicted, many of the lakes have given anglers opportunities to fish other presentations other than jig and minnow. Crawlers and leeches fished on slip sinker rigs are doing good. Four to Six foot leaders on a plain #4 or #6 hook have been the ticket. Watch your electronics for fish and slowly troll at .5 mph.
Some of the lakes to try would be Big Splithand, Trout Lake, Pokegama, Winnie, and Bowstring. Trolling Shad Raps has also been a good option along the shorelines early and late in the day. Bass fishing has been excellent and coming off the spawning beds fish are hungry to strike about anything in their path. As the weeds continue to grow, look for bass setting up along deeper weeds during the day. On a calm day fish topwater baits like the Rapala Skitter Pop for great surface strikes. Northern Pike fishing has also been good as the weeds begin to develop. Panfish have started to seek slightly deeper patterns now the spawning has about ended. Good luck.
