UPM Blandin Announces ATV Use Changes on Trail

(Grand Rapids, MN, August 21, 2013) – UPM Blandin has welcomed public use of company forest land for decades.  While this is still the case, as the many hunting seasons approach, Blandin is alerting the public to changes in their recreational use policy. The most notable change is the use of motorized access. ATV/OHV use is allowed only on roads that are built and maintained by Blandin and only on trails that are marked with “OPEN” signs. All other trails and cross country travel are closed to motorized access. Using ATV’s to go cross country for any reason including accessing and putting up hunting stands, to retrieve harvested game, or trapping is not allowed.

Please be considerate of others and do not park in front of the gates. These roads are for emergency access and Blandin forestry employees/ contractors’ business use.

Only portable hunting stands can be used and must be taken down within seven days after the hunting season for which they are used. ANY kind of hunting stand left on Blandin land out of the fall hunting season is considered permanent
and will be removed. If the owner of a portable (store-bought) stand wishes to have it back, they will have to pay a fee. Nailing anything into trees is prohibited.

No trees or brush can be cut for shooting lanes and mowing of vegetation for any reason is not allowed.

These are a few highlights from the entire policy which can be viewed at www.upm.com/na/blandin-forestry/ About Us, Map, Important Details Regarding Forest Recreational Guidelines. As a user of Blandin forest land, you are responsible for knowing and understanding the rules. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the land.
