One of the annual events in Grand Rapids that always draws a large crowd is the Tall Timber Days festival. This year’s event was held on August 3-5, 2013 in historic downtown Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
This year’s event drew a large crowd partly due to the additional entertainment options and more vendor booths than in year’s past. The Tall Timber Days has become a long standing annual festival for Grand Rapids residents and visitors alike. Many families plan their vacations around this annual event.
Two bands entertained throughout the three day event; Friday night and Saturday day featured Rough Riders (a country western band) and Saturday night featured The Time Machine (a classic rock band). Saturday and Sunday the lumberjack show and chainsaw artists entertained young and old. This year’s event went out with a bang that featured fireworks being let off from Pokegama Lake on Sunday @ 9:30pm.
The Tall Timber Days Committee looks forward to planning next year’s event. Megan Christianson, Executive Director of Visit Grand Rapids, “encourages everyone to mark their calendars for the first weekend in August each year”, and to check out the Annual Events & Festivals section on the Visit Grand Rapids website.
