MN Deer Hunters Headquarters

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association headquarters is located north of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (MDHA) has and always will strive to educate, provide opportunity, and support Minnesota and Minnesota deer hunters. We build Minnesota’s conservation legacy through habitat, education, and legislation.  The Minnesota Deer Hunters Association headquarters is located just north of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

Improving Habitat

Since its inception in 1980, MDHA has been a driving force behind improving habitat in Minnesota. MDHA and partners have invested over $27 million to restore and rehabilitate habitat on public lands accompanied by over $6.4 million in grants through the Conservation Legacy Program and the Lessard Sams Outdoor Heritage Council. Additionally, MDHA’s Hides for Habitat program has raised over $4.9 million through the collection of over 820,000 hides with funds dedicated towards habitat projects throughout Minnesota.

Forkhorn Camp

The Minnesota Deer Hunters Chapters sponsor educational hunting programs for kids like Forkhorn Camps that promote hunter safety.

Education has also been an important tenet of MDHA. Each year MDHA chapters provide nearly $180,000 in scholarships to MDHA Forkhorn Camps © across the state; camps which provide outdoor and hunting education for nearly 900 youth annually.  Also, MDHA chapters contribute tens of thousands of dollars each year to support Firearms Safety Training, 4-H Shooting Sports, Jamie Tennison Fund, Youth Field Days, National Archery in the Schools Program, Large Mammal Curriculum and many more.

Hunting Advocacy

MDHA, since its beginning, has advocated for hunters at the legislature. MDHA strives to represent you and your hunting interests at the state level as well as to the state’s congressional delegation in Washington D.C. MDHA works closely with state legislators and agencies to ensure the future of deer hunting, taking positions on specific legislation of importance and encouraging passage of laws that benefit deer and deer hunting. More recently, MDHA was very involved in the deer management process and, with help of others, our efforts lead to a legislative audit of the deer management in Minnesota. Additionally, the Minnesota DNR has agreed to undertake the development of a state deer management plan with the assistance of MDHA and other organizations and interested parties.
