Grand Rapids Ice Fishing Report 2-24-16

Neustrom Winter CrappieTom Neustrom, MN Fishing Connections, provides this week’s ice fishing report for the Grand Rapids, MN area lakes.

A reminder to all anglers that the walleye, northern pike, and bass fishing season ends this Sunday, February 28th.  Right now be careful on the ice with the recent rain; make sure you wear rubber boots. Panfishing will be good for now until ice out and pay attention to fishing shallower water especially perch. Make sure you use small subtle presentations because of the new emerging larvae that are coming off the bottom as the days get longer.  Real important to pay attention to electronics because you will see large groups of larvae, and the crappies, bluegills and perch will be close behind. Trout fishing on Grand Rapids area lakes has been good. And with other species, you may have to drill a lot of holes before you find them. It is a great time of year to be out doing winter activities like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, as well as ice fishing. Come discover winter in Grand Rapids, MN on our 1,000 area lakes and millions of acres of public forest land.
