Grand Rapids Fishing Report 7-30-15

Moose Lake Resort Muskie

A nice musky caught and released on Moose Lake by a Moose Lake Resort guest.

This week’s fishing report comes from Tom Neustrom, Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame Guide. Follow him on MN Fishing Connections and his Tom Neustrom Fishing Promotions.

The fishing continues to be good on Grand Rapids Area Lakes and visitors to the area have been rewarded with nice catches bass, northern pike, panfish and walleyes. Many of the surrounding lakes have offered multiple opportunities for different species.

For the muskie anglers we are at the peak weather for summer aggressive fish that love the heat of the summer. Good lakes that provide great opportunities to catch that fish of a lifetime are Deer, Moose, North Star,  Spider, Cutfoot  Lakes, and portions of the Mississippi River above the Blandin Dam. Another location is the Bigfork River. Relatively under fished, it is a scenic and beautiful opportunity to visit one of the most majestic rivers in Minnesota and catch a muskie. Navigated with a smaller craft there have been multiple sightings of muskies around every turn. The bonus of the Bigfork is the many encounters of wildlife that is mostly undisturbed. Deer, Black Bears, Otter, and an occasional Moose have been sighted while fishing the Bigfork.
