Nik and Becca have been enjoying mid summer fishing patterns in the Grand Rapids area.

Multi-species fishing is heating up and it’s a perfect time to boot the mid summer blues by making a get away to the lake. Many of our area lakes are producing good action for a mixed stringer of fish, including Pokegama, Trout, Wabana, Bowstring and Sand lakes. Pulling spinner rigs tipped with a minnow or a night crawler through and on the edges of weed lines will spark strikes from walleye, northern, bass, crappie and bluegills. When fishing tapers off in shallow move out to secondary breaklines, drop offs and mid-lake bumps, humps and bars. Using a live rig set up tipped with a leech or night crawler will work best out deep. A jig and minnow still does the trick in shallow and the deeps. Also, don’t rule out a slip bobber set up in these locations. But if you really want to farm some land on the water get out the crank baits and start trolling. Good luck fishing and visit Grand Rapids we’re in Minnesota’s Nature.
