This week’s Grand Rapids Fishing Report is by Tom Neustrom, MN Fishing Connections.
Northern Minnesota has been a great destination this season for good fishing. The walleye fishing has been excellent on Grand Rapids area lakes this past week and off-shore structures and weed edges have been best. Rigs and leeches or crawlers have been best on off shore structures and spinners with a crawler or chub trolled along weed lines have been good as well. Big Splithand, Trout, Pokegama, Bowstring, and Big Winnibigoshish Lakes have all been good choices.
Northern Pike continue to provide good fishing for anglers. Whether casting or trolling on area lakes using Rapalas, Spoons, Spinnerbaits; all will produce. Bass fishing continues also to be very good. Start to fish deeper weed areas during the day for consistent catches of both large and smallmouth bass.
Fishing will continue to be good throughout the summer. Come to Northern Minnesota for great opportunities not only for angling but beautiful walking and riding trails. In the Grand Rapids, MN area we have over 1,000 public accessible lakes, and over 3,000 miles of groomed trails. There is an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunity from ATV/OHV, fishing, hiking, biking, motorcycling…there is a lot of things to do and see.
