Grand Rapids Fishing Report 10-19-16

Fall Crappies Grand Rapids MNThe clock is ticking and the last few weeks of the 2016 open water fishing season  is winding down.

The crappie and walleye fishing has been very good and many of the lakes have been doing well. Several area lakes such as Bowstring, Sand, Big Splithand and Spider have been producing crappies in 22-40 feet. Most are suspended and a small jig and minnow have been working well.

Walleyes on several lakes have been shallow in depths of 6-14 feet on edges of breaks. Watch where the young loons are feeding on baitfish and it may tell you what is also feeding. Many times the walleyes are in the same areas.

Fall Crappies Grand Rapids MNMusky fishing has also picked up and anglers are seeing more fish since the water has cooled.  Jerk Baits, Cow Girls, and Grandma’s have all been raising fish. Diving ducks have also showed up in good numbers providing the duck hunters with good shooting.
Grouse hunting has also been good with most of the leaves now down. Get out and enjoys the last weeks of the boating season. Good Luck.
