Our Status: SNOWY!
The early, heavy snowfalls were a
welcomed site around the Grand Rapids
area as our snowmobile and winter sports
got off to the earliest start in years.
Snowmobile clubs from a five state area
were changing their destinations to
northeast Minnesota, in favor of
plentiful snow and scenic wooded trail
riding. Several groups have already been
back for second and third trips so it
has been great for business. Trail maps
and
trail grooming reports are still
posted online and are updated
frequently. Trails are in phenomenal
condition and should remain that way for
quite some time due to the thick base.
If you’ve never been here before, we
invite you to try the Grand Rapids area
this winter.
Grand Rapids to host
2011 Governor’s Fishing Opener
Long before the Governor’s election took
place, a Grand Rapids host committee put
in a bid to host the Governor’s Fishing
Opener in hopes of showcasing our
community to the many outdoor media that
attend this annual event. Grand Rapids
won the bid, and is excited to be
hosting our new Governor as we celebrate
our fishing heritage and kick off the
summer travel season. Festivities will
begin on Friday night with a community
picnic for 4,000 people - free of
charge. The event is made possible by
many food and product sponsors and
hundreds of volunteers.

size book is packed with beautiful
photography and options for planning
your best vacation ever. Call or
click
for your copy to plan your summer trip,
or if you just can’t wait for the mail,
you can view the
new guide online and
print out just the pieces you need.
Fishing Report
Fishing doesn’t stop in the winter; we
simply think of it as hard water season.
You can get our
fishing reports online
in the winter too. The heavy snow on
area lakes has made ice fishing a
challenge lately, but we will continue
to bring you fishing reports throughout
the season.
