Summer’s Final Fling – Labor Day Weekend
Enjoy the best of summer at special pricing when you stay in Grand Rapids this Labor Day Weekend. Area hotels and resorts are offering special travel packages to fill last-minute availabilities. From discounted nightly rates, to second or third nights at ½ price, you can find a deal in almost any price range. This is the best time of year to golf one of the Grand Slam courses, visit the Forest History Center, or sample the foods in our ever-growing list of new restaurants. Check our Hot Deals for the latest lodging deals.

Reif Theater Packages On Sale Now
If I were working the ticket booth at the Reif Performing Arts Center last week, I would have to
shout, “What Recession?” Tickets for this season’s performances went on sale and the Reif had their highest open day ticket purchases in their 28-year history. It could be the long list of world-class events, or it could be the fact that patrons far and wide recognize the value of seeing their favorite performances in the intimate setting of the Reif instead of an overpriced larger city. The Reif has partnered with local hotels to offer you exclusive Theater Packages that combine value, convenience, and a great experience in one tidy bundle. A theater package weekend makes a great gift or surprise for someone special in your life or business.

Goods From the Woods – It’s All About the Trees

Mark your calendars for September 19th for the 7th annual Goods From the Woods & Green Living Expo being held at Ruttger’s Sugar Lake Lodge of Grand Rapids. This annual event features over 70 exhibitor booths showcasing forest related art, home wares, and other specialty products. New this year are ideas and products to help you live the green life. Special overnight lodging rates are available, or if you are staying elsewhere, free shuttle bus service is available from town to the resort.

Fall Color Countdown
The Grand Rapids area is a fantastic location to take a hike and view the fall colors. The mixed hardwoods and pine forests of Itasca County, along with the 1,200 area lakes provide an exhilarating fall experience. The Visit Grand Rapids website has a page dedicated to fall color reports to help you target the peak of the color.

47 Mile-Long Garage Sale
Attention bargain hunters: this one is for you. Each September, homeowners along the Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway hold their annual 47 mile-long garage sale. This year’s event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 19th & 20th.
