Goods From the Woods Festival takes place September 15 & 16th!
This annual festival features a marketplace of handcrafted works made from natural forest products, entertainment, artisan and master craftsman workshops and local foods. The event takes place each fall at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids and has become one of the highlights of the season. This year’s vendor list is impressive and offers an extensive array of items from hand-thrown pottery, wood furniture, carvings, natural syrups and balms, home décor, artwork and so much more.

Ruffed Grouse, the Kings of Birds
Grouse hunters are thrilled with the high numbers of birds in northern Minnesota this year. Grand Rapids is home of the RGS National Ruffed Grouse Hunt because of the area’s excellent habitat for this upland game bird. Hunters will be happy to know that many of the area hotels allow trained hunting dogs during grouse season, and some even provide on-site storage for your game. Local grouse hunting guides are also available.
