Welcome back to my blog. This week was exciting, there was a lot of things happening, and I can’t wait to share!

For the start of my week, I headed to True North Salon and Spa with a couple of new friends, Katie and Colleena, for a relaxing spa day! True North was great, and pampered us from the minute we walked in! We had some yummy treats from the coffee shop Brewed Awakenings, which is a local favorite. The staff at True North was friendly and always made sure we were comfortable! Katie, Colleena and I got pedicures and they spoiled us with arm and calf massages! However, that’s not all True North has to offer, they also do manicures, haircuts, coloring, styling, botanical therapy treatments, facial waxing, makeup and even wedding services – all with Aveda products! I had a lot of fun, and if you are ever in need of some pampering, this is definitely the place to go!

After my spa day, I went to the Downtown Art Fair put on by MacRostie’s Art Center. This was such a fun event, as there was food vendors and art booths set up everywhere, as well as live music! It turned out to be a beautiful day outside, which made strolling around all the booths so enjoyable. My favorite part was the kid goats brought by North Country Farm that I was able to play with for a little while. So cute!

The next event on my agenda, was an evening spent at the Deer River Wild Rice Festival. This is the largest Wild Rice Festival in the world! There was live music, concessions (and one of my favorites, Fry Bread Tacos!), bingo, a carnival, a street dance that evening and a beer garden! They also had other activities like a parade, a Pow Wow, a movie night and a rodeo! It was an action packed weekend in Deer River, and it seemed to have a good turn out! It was a lot of fun trying out all the events and meeting new people!

The last event of my weekend, was the Timberman Triathlon. This was the 32nd annual race and it was busy! There were lots of people out to support all the racers while they swam, biked and ran! I had a fun time watching the participates cross the finish line, and the finishers ranged from young kids to 92 years old! What an accomplishment! The race took place at Sugar Lake Lodge, which is on the gorgeous Sugar Lake. The scenery was just beautiful throughout the race, which made it so enjoyable for both onlookers and participants!

Between now and my next week’s blog, there’s a lot happening! I’m attending the KAXE River Festival, the Deer River BBQ & Brew Fest, the 3rd Annual GRAHA Walleye Shootout and going on an ATV ride! So if you’ve attended or are going to attend any of these events, tell me about them on Facebook, and make sure to check in next week on my blog to hear about my experiences!
