Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Tour
I started off my weekend with a 12-mile bike tour from Taconite, MN to Grand Rapids. The bike tour, called The Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Tour, had several starting points for the ride. The longest route started in Virginia, for a 67 mile ride. Next was Chisholm for a ride totaling 48 miles. Then Nashwauk, for a 25 mile ride. Finally, the shortest route starting from Taconite for a mere 12 miles! Itasca Trail Sports was awesome and sponsored us with a couple bikes to take on the ride. If you are looking for a bike, wanting to buy ski’s, or need a repair, this is the place to go! The staff was so helpful in helping us pick out bikes for the race, and making sure the tire pressure, seat height and all those little details were up to par.
The weather was gorgeous during this weekend, which made the trail ride so enjoyable. People were ready to help you are every starting point along the way. Live music and snacks were also available at these stops. The atmosphere overall, was very casual and relaxed. At the end of the race, there was live music to enjoy and a delicious catered picnic lunch. I had so much fun riding the trail, and it was gorgeous scenery the whole way through.
Tall Timber Days
To finish off my weekend I headed over to Tall Timber Days in downtown Grand Rapids. This festival’s mission is to celebrate the rich logging history in the area. There are craft vendors, food booths, live music, street entertainment, a parade and pet parade, children games and bounce houses, beer garden, street dance and the famous lumberjack show!
The lumberjacks log rolled in the water and climbed tall towers, it was so fun to watch! There was so many neat crafts to look at, and booths to shop at. Watching people marched down the street with their pets was too cute. Tall Timber Days is an event that is fun for the whole family. The whole weekend had so much happening, you could never be bored. I really enjoyed my time at the event, and can’t wait to go again next year!
Between now and my next week’s blog, I’ll be heading to the Grand Rapids Farmers Market and checking out a few local lakes! If have a favorite stand at the Farmers Market, tell me about it on Facebook, I want to hear about your experiences! Make sure to check in next week on my blog to hear about my time at these events!
