Winter NorthernGrand Rapids Ice Fishing Report 2-3-15 by Tom Neustrom, MN Fishing Connections.

“I wish I may, I wish I might, have some snow tonight”. It sure is a different style of winter compared to last year’s season. We are Minnesotans and are used to different weather patterns that can change in an instant. For many it’s been a great winter for ice fishing and for others it is a struggle to get out and do other winter activities. Just remember as the weather changes, in a blink of an eye, there can be two feet of snow and all is well. Ice fishing continues to be fairly steady and the panfish bite seems to be the most consistent. There still remains good opportunities for northern pike on Grand Rapids area lakes and will probably continue to its closure the end of the month. Grand Rapids is also blessed with opportunities to catch trout during the cold water period. Lake trout, rainbows, browns and even record splake are available. A Trout Stamp is required and a check with our local DNR office will give you a list of lakes and the species that are available. We still have several weeks of winter to enjoy so come join us in the Grand Rapids area. We are truly a Minnesota destination worth visiting.

Grand Rapids has the best ice fishing in Minnesota. Make a weekend of it and stay at one of of Grand Rapids Lodging properties.  In Grand Rapids you will find economical motels to conveniently located hotels, year round resorts and quaint bed & breakfasts.
