Winter WalleyeWhen you live in Minnesota many times you can blink your eyes and the weather will change. Colder temperatures have ascended on the Grand Raids area and will continue to build our ice depths. The fishing has been good to excellent for several species and there is no reason to expect it to slow down. Anglers have been traveling to several area lakes and ice fishing has been enjoyed by many. Big and Little Splithand lakes, Big Turtle lake, Pokegama lake, Bass Lake and Trout Lake have been excellent choices for crappies and big bluegills. Walleye fishing has been good the last 2 hours of the day on Big Winnie, Cutfoot, Pokegama, and Moose lake with small spoons and a minnow head or a shiner minnow on a plain hook putting fish on the ice. Northern Pike have still been cooperating and providing great action on area lakes. We need snow and I’m sure it is in the future to provide other opportunities for other winter activities. Happy New Year to all and come join us in Grand Rapids.
