Grand Rapids Fishing Report 8-4-14 by Tom Neustrom, MN Fishing Connections
It’s amazing to turn my back and wonder where did summer go? Cool temperatures at night are starting to effect wildlife and there future. I saw a group of young geese practicing their landing and taking off daily. Fishing has been good in the Grand Rapids area with many opportunities for several species. Smallmouth and Largemouth bass fishing has been good on Wabana Lake just north of Grand Rapids and Turtle Lake near Marcell has also been producing nice bass. Spider Lake has produced nice northern pike this past week and the crappies are starting to show up on the breaks in 12-14 feet of water. Pokegama Lake has been a great destination for several species and great opportunities for panfish and nice northern pike. Pooles Bay has been a great choice for bluegills and crappies on the weedlines. Grand Rapids has so much to offer our visitors and with fall, just around the corner, multiple outdoor opportunities persist. Come join us and we will show you why you should make Grand Rapids your favorite place to visit and enjoy a bit of “Minnesota’s Nature”.
